WDO, led by its Executive Director Dr. Afnan Alshuaiby, hosted a high-level reception in New York to celebrate women around the world during International Women’s Day. The reception was in collaboration with the OIC’s Permanent Observer Mission to the United Nations, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, and it took place on the sidelines of the sixty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 67).
During the reception, Dr. Alshuaiby met with the Executive Director of UN Women, Dr. Sima Bahous where they discussed issues of common interest.
The reception was also attended by a number of ministers and CSW delegates, including Palestine’s Minister of Women’s Affairs Dr. Amal Hamad, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, President of Egypt’s National Council for Women Dr. Maya Morsy, Kuwaiti Minister of State for Women and Childhood Affairs Dr. Mai Al-Baghli, and Secretary General of Saudi Arabia’s Family Affairs Council Dr. Maimoonah Al Khalil.
