Cairo, September 13th, 2023 – The Women Development Organization (WDO) held on Wednesday the first episode of its latest webinar Series: “Islam and Cultural Practices”.
The webinar series aims to debunk incorrect cultural practices that are falsely believed to be based on Islam. The webinar’s first episode was on “Prophet Mohamed PPBUH as a Husband”. It featured the guest speaker, the accomplished Dr. Mayada Mohamed Alhassan, an Expert at the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and a Professor at the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies at King Faisal University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Alhassan gave an introduction on the topic by elaborating how the religion of Islam gave women their rights, treated them as equals to men, and elevated their status at a time in history when women lacked these rights.
The speaker then began discussing how Prophet Mohamed PPBUH was as a husband and highlighted how his life and behavior corrected the false cultural practices that came before him.
She stated that the Prophet’s life was recorded and documented in detail, leaving no room for the wrong interpretation of religion. Dr. Alhassan highlighted that the Prophet was always respectful, loving, and kind towards his wives, according to these records.
She gave examples of how he used to consult his wives on critical matters, which shows how he respects the minds of women and their judgment. She continued by giving more examples of how he was immensely supportive of his wives in all aspects of life.
The speaker concluded by explaining how men can take the right path to follow in the footsteps of the Prophet as a husband and role model.
