H.E the Secretary-General welcomed and congratulated Dr Al-Shuaiby on assuming her new position, He expressed the full support, cooperation and coordination between the OIC and the WDO ,praised the role of the Organization in the field of women’s advancement and the effort and remarkable progress by the Executive Secretariat of the Organization under the leadership of the Executive Director, In addition had expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the host country, the Arab Republic of Egypt, for its continuous efforts to support the activities of the WDO.
For her part, Dr. Afnan Al-Shuaiby expressed her thanks, appreciation and respect to H.E the Secretary-General of the OIC for supporting and empowering women, enhancing their position in the OIC countries, she also thanked the OIC General Secretariat for its support to the work of WDO.
The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation between the two organizations, opening permanent channels of communication between WDO and its similar sister organizations affiliated with the OIC, in order to strengthen frameworks of cooperation and joint coordination to serve women's issues in the OIC countries.
Dr. Afnan Al-Shuaiby had met at the HQs with HE Ambassador / Youssef bin Mohammed Al-Dubaie - Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, HE Ambassador / Tariq Bakhit - Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs, and HE Ambassador / Hassan Ali, Director of Legal Affairs.
This official visit came to discuss opening prospects for joint cooperation between the two sides and consolidating work and integration between the WDO and OIC and its subsidiary organs and specialized organizations.
