WDO Successfully Hosts Virtual Workshop on Economic Empowerment and Climate Resilience of Smallholder Rural Women Farmers

On September 26, 2024, the Women Development Organization (WDO), in collaboration with the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), successfully hosted a virtual workshop titled "Economic Empowerment and Climate Resilience of Smallholder Rural Women Farmers for Food Security."

The workshop brought together leaders from farmers' unions, civil society organizations, and non-governmental organizations across the OIC member states. During the sessions, participants were provided with tools and strategies to support smallholder rural women farmers in overcoming economic challenges, adopting sustainable agricultural practices, and accessing financial and market resources.

The event highlighted the importance of empowering women in rural agricultural sectors and showcased success stories from the Mashreq, Maghreb, and GCC regions. Participants discussed practical solutions for improving entrepreneurial skills, market access, and climate-resilient farming techniques, ensuring a long-lasting impact on rural communities.

WDO’s continuous efforts in promoting women’s economic empowerment and food security were reinforced through this workshop, aiming to drive greater resilience and growth in rural communities.
