Jeddah, November 6th, 2023 - The Executive Director of the Women Development Organization (WDO), H.E. Dr. Afnan Alshuaiby, met on Monday with The Honourable, Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, on the sidelines of the Women in Islam Conference in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting was also attended by H.E., Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, and Hon’ble, Fazilatun Nessa Indira, State Minister of Women and Child Affairs of Bangladesh.
The Executive Director introduced the organization and its activities while the delegation of Bangladesh presented their efforts to empower women in their society. The meeting tackled several activities and future collaborations that the organization can execute in partnership with the government of Bangladesh.
This includes a potential program to support rural, refugees, and displaced women in building and creating economic opportunities. The two parties also discussed the potential of applying WDO’s Girls Who Lead Program in schools in Bangladesh to establish early leadership qualities for young girls in Bangladesh.
